The Relationship between Physical Activity and Dealing with Anxiety

Anxiety is something that most human beings feel whenever they anticipate threats of its consequences, and this is because we are responsible beings who can analyze thing to either avoid or solve them. Some of us can easily get over anxious thoughts yet there are those who have a chronic condition of anxiety that certainly needs looking at. Excessive anxiety immobilizes the person to think straight and tends to burn most of its energy to lethargy thus inducing exhaustion or unhealthy stress. Though a person can still typically go about its daily routine, but the chore becomes heavier than when it does not have that alarming condition. There are also moments when the person’s breathing becomes fast and heavy.

Exercise or working on a physical activity has been proven by so many to help reduce anxiety and improve the persons mood. Physical activity makes a person feel better and eases symptoms of anxiety and depression. Though this will have to take a decisive determination on the one who wants to remedy their anxiety because exercise often seems like the last thing someone want to do when they are in that state.

It does not have to be some specialized exercises to cure anxiety on the spot, but regular exercise will be a better remedy for it.

When one does exercising on a regular basis until it forms a habit, one will gain many psychological and emotional benefits from it.

When one exercises regularly and is able to meet his goals and challenges, then this gives a great boost to his confidence. Physical exercise done regularly also help a person focus on something else, the attainment of the daily goal, instead of focusing on things that can make one depressed and anxious.

Taking anti-depressants like alcohol or drugs is not going to help since the mind is not kept away from anxious thoughts by these things. Instead, allowing the person to dwell on them more exhaustively, and thus worsening their condition further.

Physical activity to combat depression does not only mean rigid workouts although regular exercise is good enough. When we say physical activity we don’t only think of organized program of exercise, but something that makes your body work daily like walking or biking, can all take the person’s focus out of his anxious thoughts and help improve his mood in the process. We are saying here that there are other forms of physical activity other than exercising. Therefore, depending on the persons make, each is compelled to its own flair of being distracted from dwelling on those negative thoughts that feed those anxious and depressing speculations. Whatever it is, it has to be a physical activity and it will also help you maintain your physical fitness.
